Australian Narrative Journalism covers the period from 1788 to Federation in 1901. It focuses on factual writing and excludes writing by overseas commentators or visitors, news reporting, arts reviewing, and memoir that crosses the boundary from being primarily reportage to an exploration of the writer’s own consciousness. It is designed for the researcher who may know little or nothing about Australian narrative journalism.
