- Kaz approached McPhee-Gribble, the feminist publishing office in Fitzroy run Diana Gribble and Hillary McPhee with cartoons that became her first book, The Modern Girl's Guide to Everything.
- When discussing how she used dialect in her novel Ada, Kaz mentions Goddess by Kelly Gardiner (which she thinks was done well) and Trainspotting by Irvine Welsh (which she thinks was not).
- At the time of this interview, Kaz had just finished Sarah Krasnostein’s The Trauma Cleaner.
