BiographyHistory

Phoebe Grainer is originally from Mareeba, Queensland. She spent most of her childhood moving through the Northern Territory and Broome, Western Australia. She is a graduate of NIDA and WAAPA Aboriginal Theatre.

Grainer's play with Wendy Mocke, Julbu Meri, was included in Darlinghurst Theatre Company's development program in 2020, with dramaturg Rachael Maza and actors Gloria Bose and Abbie Lee-Lewis. The play explores the lived experiences of an Aboriginal woman and Papua New Guinean woman, growing up as black women in Australia.
