AbstractHistoryArchive Description

'Coal Face is set in an unnamed town, that could be any mining town in regional Australia. It centres around now orphaned adult siblings, Jemima and Josh. Josh is working on the mine, like his father before him and lives in the old family home. Jemima has returned to join the group protesting the mine. On the protest, she meets a traditional owner who is intimately linked with the family.'

Notes

  • Editor's note: 'Coal Face has been carefully researched and developed in consultation with the communities of Nhulunbuy and Yirrkala in East Arnhem Land and informed by the real-life conflict of the writer’s life having grown up the beneficiary of mining but informed of its impact, both on the environment and Indigenous Australia.'
