'Long ago, a good man transgressed and was brutally punished, his physical form killed and his soul split asunder. Now, one half of his ancient soul seeks to reunite with its lost twin, a search that leaves murder in its wake…
'In the streets of modern day Sydney a killer stalks the night, slaughtering innocents, leaving bodies mutilated. The victims seem unconnected, yet Investigating Officer Ivory Tembo is convinced the killings are anything but random. The case soon leads Ivory into places she never imagined. In order to stop the killings and save the life of the man she loves, she must reach deep into her past, uncover secrets of her heritage, break a demon’s curse, and somehow unify two worlds.
'Ivory's Story deftly combines the contemporary thriller with darker, older traditions, and marks the arrival of an exciting new voice on the genre fiction scene.'

Notes
-
Ivory's Story was originally announced with the title In the Dreaming and a cover image that suggested Aboriginal themes or characters. Both title and cover image were later adjusted, after some discussion on social media. Eugen Bacon discussed the changes on her blog: https://eugenbacon.com/blog/eugen-bacon-statement-about-my-upcoming-book-by-newcon-press/ (Sighted: 24/9/2020)

— Review of Ivory's Story 2020 single work novel 'Mention the Dreaming, and many fantasy fans will think of the setting for Neil Gaiman’s comic book series The Sandman. In it, avatars like Death and Delirium populate a realm where humanity’s imagination bumps against all that’s eternal. The titular character evokes our shared hopes and fears in lines like, “What power would Hell have if those here imprisoned were not able to dream of Heaven? Lofty, sure. But Gaiman’s treatment of the concept is nevertheless a pop culture varnish. The Dreaming as a notion comes from Aboriginal Australian spiritualism, and is primarily concerned with reverence for ancestors and the environment.' (Introduction)
