BiographyHistory

Thomas Flanagan was an American professor of English literature, specializing in Irish literature. Flanagan was born on November 5, 1923, Greenwich, Connecticut and graduated from Amherst College in 1945. He spent the last part of his career as a Professor in the English Department at the University of California. Flanagan died on March 21, 2002, in Berkeley. Throughout his career, he published numerous academic works and histories. He was also a successful novelist.
