AbstractHistoryArchive Description

Beyond the Father's Shadow is the story of Australia’s first female parliamentarian, Edith Cowan. The film reveals the struggles behind her ascent to power. Saba Vasefi uses metaphoric and poetic imagery to depict how Edith Cowan's traumatic childhood experiences motivated her to become a social worker and then the first female member of the Australian parliament.
