short story
In the form of a letter written by Gnaeus Marcius Coriolanus, Roman general and inspiration for Shakespeare's Coriolanus. The letters are written and sent during Coriolanus's period of exile after a dispute over how to ameliorate a grain shortage.
There is some debate among modern scholars as to whether Coriolanus is an historical or a legendary figure.
