BiographyHistory

Claude Shaw had enlisted in the Australian Imperial Force (AIF) and joined the 7th Reinforcements of the 12th Battalion on 14 June 1915. He served in Gallipoli and was involved in the battle of Lone Pine. Shaw had also served in France. Shaw was promoted to Lance Corporal and later to Corporal in 1819. He spent time in England with the 13th Training Battalion and gained 1st Class qualifications at the Australian School of Musketry at Tidworth in Wiltshire. Returning to France he served with the 51st Battalion at the Australian Infantry Base Depot at Le Havre. In January 1919 was transferred back to England to return to Australia. In 1940, Shaw had enlisted in the Australian Armed Forces to fight in the Second World War.
