BiographyHistory

The name of the famous eighteenth-century pickpocket George Barrington was appropriated as an allonym for the publication of several narratives in the period 1791-1810. Barrington himself had nothing to do with these works, which were the productions of a number of publishers. The actual authors' identities are uncertain.
