Painter and print maker Kit Hiller was educated at The Friends' School, Hobart. She studied at the Tasmanian School of Art from 1966-1969. She began painting watercolour portraits and had her first exhibition at the Rialto restaurant in Burnie in 1982. For twelve years she provided art lessons at Burnie Primary School on a voluntary basis. Hiller's portraits have been hung in exhibitions for the Archibald Prize and the Portia Geach Memorial Prize for Women Artists, which she won in 1986 and 1987.
Over the years, Hiller has completed more than three hundred linocuts, many of Tasmanian wildflowers and birds, with most being individually hand coloured. From her home at Lower Mount Hicks on the North-West Coast, she provides artistic support to local productions, illustrates publications, and supports coastal arts projects and exhibitions.
Kit Hiller was included on the Tasmanian Honour Roll of Women for her service to the arts.
