Connie Hart is a self-taught basket maker. She used to sit around with her mother and the other Elders, watching her mother making baskets and sneaking stitches when she could. Hart's mother did not want her to learn the craft as she thought it would interfere with learning the white ways so it was not until after her mother's death that Hart began making baskets.
