BiographyHistory

Anselme Ricard arrived in Australia in 1853 and was one of the first Readers appointed at the newly established University of Sydney in the French language programme (1853-1855). During his time in Australia he wrote of life in the colonies for the Parisian daily paper La Presse. These were edited and published as Lettres d'Australie (Ancora Press, 2010).
