BiographyHistory

Describing its operations as 'acoustical liberation of books in the public domain,' LibriVox provides free audiobooks which have been recorded by volunteers who then release the audio files back onto the net. Although based in the USA and powered by US webhost Wordpress, LibriVox volunteers come from around the world.

By the end of 2012, LibriVox had a catalogue of over 6,244 unabridged books and shorter works available to download. It publishes on average around 90 audiobooks per month. While around ninety percent of the collection is in English, recordings are available in over 30 languages.
