BiographyHistory

Stathis Gauntlett is Foundation Professor of Hellenic Studies at La Trobe University. Gauntlett studied medieval and modern languages at Oxford University and his PhD thesis was on the poetics and performance of rebetika songs. He lectured in Modern Greek at the University of Melbourne for twenty-five years before taking up his position at La Trobe in 1998.
