BiographyHistory

The author of a selection of short stories, Convergence (2003), John Litchen has also published a non-fiction work, Cinematography Underwater [1978], and written numerous articles, short stories and poems which have appeared in a variety of magazines and literary journals.

With an interest in the martial art of Aikido, he has been a contributor and editor of the official newsletter of Aiki-Kai Australia, Aikido Australia.

Litchen spent his formative years in the seaside suburb of Williamstown, Melbourne. More recently he has lived in Robina, Gold Coast, Queensland.

Little is known of this film, which won the inaugural Ditmar Award for Dramatic Presentation (where it was up against A Clockwork Orange, Slaughterhouse Five, and Tales from the Crypt.

A passing reference to it in Bruce Gillespie’s Fan Guest of Honour Speech at Aussiecon Three (2 September 1999) [republished in Scratch Pad 34, October 1999] tells us that it was made by John Litchen in 1972 and included footage of the contemporary Melbourne fan scene.
