A television series ostensibly based on Arthur Upfield's series of detective novels, and stemming from a telemovie aired two years earlier.

After protests from Indigenous groups about the casting of a white actor as a descendant of Detective Napoleon Bonaparte, the production was altered to make the character a white man who had once lived with Indigenous Australians. As such, it bears little real connection to Upfield's novels.

The series was not a success, and was cancelled after the first thirteen episodes.

According to Robert Hood, 'Supernatural thriller about a stone that conveys immortality. Some bad guys want it and most of the film is an extended chase scene over Sher Mountain as they pursue the good guys who have the stone. There's a ghost called The Ranger too. Pretty listless'.

Based on the true story of an Australian Army captain who, in 1946, was assigned by the Australian Army Legal Corps to prosecute Japanese soldiers for their role in the Laha Massacre (1942) and other incidents at Ambon Island POW camp between the fall of Ambon to the Japanese in 1942 and the end of the war.

Set against the background of international power politics, the script attempts to portray the perplexing issue of war guilt through the rhetoric of courtroom drama. It can usefully be compared with the Japanese documentary The Tokyo Trial (1984), the second half of which deals with the trial of twenty-eight alleged war criminals.

A television mini-series based on the award-winning collection of short stories by Robert Drewe, Bodysurfer combines a number of characters and incidents to create a single narrative focusing on the troubled personal life of Sydney architect David Lang. The narrative takes place over a period of some eighteen months, beginning shortly after the failure of Lang's marriage. He begins a series of casual affairs, but memories of his past come flooding back to stir his feelings of guilt and he has a breakdown.

The Last Bastion explores the events of 1941 to 1942, when Australian Prime Minister John Curtin waged a political battle against US President Franklin Roosevelt and British Prime Minister Winston Churchill in an attempt to shore up support against the prospective Japanese invasion of Australia.

An intelligent computer resorts to violence to defend itself, after it becomes the only witness to a murder.
