BiographyHistory

Collingridge's magnum opus is The Discovery of Australia (Sydney, 1895); the smaller First Discovery of Australia and New Guinea (Sydney, 1906) was designed for New South Wales schools. He published other books on history and travel and also works on art, and Atlantis. He was a noted artist and wood engraver and with his brother, Arthur, founded in 1880 Australian Art, the first journal of its kind in Australia. He also founded and published in the 1890s the journal Progress and was founder of Australia's first Esperanto club, at Gosford in 1908.
