BiographyHistory

In 1866 after her marriage to George Alfred Lloyd jnr, who was a member of the New South Wales Legislative Council and Assembly, Jessie Lloyd lived on stations near Gunnedah and Coonamble. In 1878 she began publishing short stories, essays, novels and poems in the Echo, the Illustrated Sydney News and the Sydney Mail. Funds from her writing financed the boarding-school education of two of her four children.
