BiographyHistory

Prior to World War I, Knyvett had trained for the Presbyterian ministry. With the outbreak of war he enlisted in the AIF and subsequently served in France, where he was seriously wounded. He returned to Australia in early 1917 and was discharged. He then became involved in recruiting and later went to the United States to encourage American involvement in the war. He died in New York in April, 1918, apparently from the effects of influenza.
