1 Geoffrey's Sin Mrs W. I. Thrower , 1896 single work novel Alice Maynard and Geoffrey Forest are in love but her father refuses to consider their marriage. Geoffrey, whose father lived in Tasmania for many years, becomes a medical student until he is saved by an invitation abroad from a college friend, Dr Phillip Blandford, also recovering from a broken heart. Meanwhile Alice is launched into society through Royal Presentation and when rich noble heir Eric Falconer proposes to her , her father is pleased. In his ambition for her he pressures her to accept and they are married. Geoffrey's mother is ill and when a letter from Balndford reaches them telling of Geoffrey's death, she dies and her husband is paralysed. Blandford voyages to Melbourne via Colombo and meets the Hardings whose daughter Ella pursues him. They marry and have a daughter but eventually Bladford is revealed to be the long lost Geoffrey himself with disastrous consequences. (MJ) 'Written Expressly for the Australian Journal.'
