The Brindabella Press (known between 1985 and 1992 as the Officina Brindabella) was founded in 1972 by Alec Bolton as a 'leisure-time occupation'. Alec Bolton was a creative force in Australian publishing for almost half a century. After his war service he worked as an editor for Angus & Robertson and Ure Smith before establishing the publishing program at the National Library of Australia, producing many outstanding books. In 1987 he left the National Library to become a full-time printer. The Brindabella Press is noted for its fine hand-printing. As sole operator of the Press, Bolton employed his skills and experience to search for the perfect book. (Library News, University of Adelaide Library)
