Notes

  • Margaret Macpherson was a Scottish author who married an Australian. Although she often resided in the USA, she spent extended periods in Australia and New Zealand. In Antipodean Journey (1937), recalling a comment made during a conversation with George Bernard Shaw in New Zealand, she says 'I'm a Yorkshirewoman, but I have been in Australasia over eighteen years.'
