He worked in various advertising agencies in London, then for an illustrating agency and was soon receiving commissions to illustrate children's, teenage and adult fiction book covers. His first covers were for British naturalist and author Gerald Durrell (My Favourite Animal stories), as well as books by Virginia Andrew's Garden of Shadows and Carolyn Keene's Nancy Drew series.

He illustrated a number of jacket covers for other prominent Australian authors such as Lilith Norman and Victor Kelleher. His usual medium is watercolour, but he has also uses acrylic wash.
