BiographyHistory

Rabelais was a French Renaissance humanist writer and Catholic Priest. He is remembered for his humorous writings about Gargantua and Pantagruel, which have been published in numerous forms since the 1500s. Some versions of these works were banned in Australia in 1926. He is included in AustLit because his work The Life of Gargantua and the Heroic Deeds of Pantagruel appears in the Banned in Australia subset.
