BiographyHistory

Ann Wells was educated to tertiary level in Queensland and then trained as a nurse. She married the Reverend Edgar Wells, a missionary, and the couple lived in Arnhem Land. Wells identified closely with the Indigenous people, learning some of their dialects and studying their traditions. Wells wrote the autobiographical Milingimbi: Ten Years in the Crocodile Islands of Arnhem Land (1963).
