BiographyHistory

Debbie MacKinnon originally trained as a medical and scientific illustrator. She worked in a design studio, and as Art Director at Dorling Kindersley (UK) and Frances Lincoln, where she oversaw and designed a range of coffee-table books. She has produced books for the National Gallery, London, and the Louvre, Paris.

She moved to Sydney from the UK in the mid 1990s. She has published a large number of picture books for very young children about themselves and their world, including a series of Lift-the-Flap books, and some of her work has been translated into other languages. She has won industry awards including Young Book Trust 1997 Best Books; Parents Play & Learn Awards 1996; Petits Filou Best Toy Awards 1996 and Right Start 1998 Best Toy Awards.
