BiographyHistory

Chris Puplick came to Australia in 1962, studying at Manly Boys' High School and at Sydney University where he gained a BA (Hons) and MA. Puplick was a Liberal Senator for New South Wales 1978-1981 and 1984-1990, and has published a number of works on political and party issues. He was President of the NSW Anti-Discrimination Board (1994-2003), Chair of the NSW Privacy Committee and the State's first Privacy Commissioner (1993-2003), has worked in the field of international health, and been appointed Professorial Fellow of Health and Behavioural Sciences at the University of Wollongong. His interest in the Arts has led to his involvement with the National Institute of Dramatic Arts, the Griffin Theatre, the Children's Music Foundation and the Archives Forum. In 2001 he was made a Member of the Order of Australia for his services in the fields of social justice and Australia's national campaigns against HIV/AIDS.
