Frank Lundie served in both World Wars. He put his birth date back to enlist for World War I, then, enlisting for World War II on the 24th November 1939, found he was too old for overseas service. Determined to go to war, he got himself discharged 'for family reasons' on 29th May, 1940, re-enlisting on 31st of the same month with the changed birth date of 21 August 1900. He served in the Middle East, Papua New Guinea and Borneo and wrote poetry based on his experiences of war. Between the wars he attended night school to further his education, and worked as a labourer on fruit blocks in Renmark (South Australia) and sugar plantations in Queensland, went timber cutting, rabbit trapping and fox hunting. After World War II, however, he was classed TPI (Totally and Permanently Incapacitated) and was unable to work.
