BiographyHistory

Kylie Chan lived in Hong Kong for ten years and operated an IT consultancy firm. During her time in Hong Kong, she developed a keen interest in and understanding of Chinese mythology and culture.

After returning to Australia in 2002, she continued to pursue this interest and studied martial arts. Her fiction draws on these interests and studies: the Dark Heavens series, for example, is set in modern-day Hong Kong, where Emma Donahoe takes on a role as nanny, not realising her businessman employer is a Chinese god. In 2018, the Dark Heavens series, originally a trilogy, was nine books. Chan subsequently released the science-fiction series Dragon Empire, where Earth's generation ships reach an alien empire led by dragons.
