Jonathan West graduated with a Bachelor of Arts majoring in the history and philosophy of science from the University of Sydney. He gained doctorate and masters degrees from Harvard University. He was appointed Associate Professor at the Harvard University Graduate School of Business Administration, and was the founder and faculty director of the Harvard Life Sciences Project. He was appointed to found the Centre for Innovation at the University of Tasmania.
