Notes
-
Fawcett's father came to Australia in 1853 hoping to recoup his losses on the Victorian goldfields, this situation having occurred when when a partner defaulted on their business. Leaving his family in England he arrived at the Bendigo diggings in early 1853 and was joined in November by his eldest son, George.
