Dedication: For Joan and Robert Jones. This poem owes a great debt to the reports of the journalists who went under fire with the raiders - Alan Humphrey, Larry Meier, Ross Munro, A. B. Austin, I trust that they will not mind this attemot to transfer their accounts into verse. I have given the poem the general title Into Action because though the direct theme is Dieppe the subject is in general the second front. J. Lindsay.
