'Donnison's first novel, Winning a Wife in Australia (1894), is a romance of station life that was published in London and Sydney. With the Banks at Her Mercy (1908), the story of an elaborate fraud, followed many years later, and was criticised in contemporary reviews for being too caught up in technical details of the scam.'
