Published as a tribute to Douglas Stewart on retirement from the Bulletin
-
Introduction: ... For all these reasons a group of Australian poets decided that many other people might wish to combine with them in making some permanent record of their appreciation to Douglas Stewart....It was thought that a more appropriate gesture to Douglas Stewart would be to publish a poem characteristic of his latest work in the form of a handsome book. Norman Lindsay (q.v.), whose long friendship with Douglas Stewart and particular genius as an illustrator especially fitted him to decorate the book, most generously agreed to do so...The book contains a list of people who wish to record their appreciation of Douglas Stewart's services to Australian literature and its authors during his editorship of the 'Bulletin' Red Page. The list contains nearly all the poets who have written for the 'Bulletin' during the period... ([3]p.).
