Notes

  • 'The play tells the story of the AIF in Malaya during the Muar River - Bakri Road - Parit Sulong action, 17-23 January 1942. The play is based on Grim Glory by Gilbert Mant, various newspaper accounts, and stories related personally to the writer by survivors of the action who reached Australia...' (Author's Note).
  • Dedication: To the Eighth Division, A.I.F.
  • Epigraph: 'The story of the battle at Bakri and Parit Sulong...' Lieut-General H. Gordon Bennett.
