Author note: "I used to be fussed about love, and how awful men are. This made me sick. Now I worry about earning a living, writing whodunits, and being healthy. My favourite lines in this poem are 'I remember my friends,/Let me tell you about them.' I always enjoyed having a pyrrhic last word in a poem because the lizards would get so paranoid. But I wonder if Jill Johnston was correct when she said 'Bad writing is emotional writing about evening scores.' "(Cover of The Wild Girl in the Heart)
