AbstractHistoryArchive Description
Children of the clergy carry a burden of expectation, for other people assume that they have been born with all Christian virtues fully developed. For this reason it was something of a handicap being the daughter of the fifth Bishop of Ballarat, the expectations being even higher. Life in a clerical household during the 1930s and 1940s is presented here not as an exercise in sombre piety but as an account of normal, often hilarious 'goings-on' at Bishopscourt.
