Nim, living on an island in the South Pacific with her marine biologist father, is left alone when her father heads off on a research trip. When tourists approach her island, Nim, mistaking them for pirates, enlists the aid of Alexandra Rover, writer of the Alex Rover adventure series, herself a timid agoraphobic who constantly sees the main character from her books.
