      Note/s:
      • Author's note: This tale is an attempt to resurrect one of those old adventurous expeditions which, like that of Dr. Bass, sailed from Sydney in the early days of the colonization of Australia. Although the backbone of the story is to be considered as fiction, most of the characters really existed and many of the incidents really occurred. Where these incidents merge into the historical they have been correctly described. The same remark applies to the description of the life formerly lived in the islands of Bass Strait. here history repeated itself, and the days of the buccaneers began to be lived again. There is no reference to any living person. Vernon Williams.
