AbstractHistoryArchive Description
In The Other Side of the World I explored the feelings of a boy who came to live, unwillingly, for six months in Australia-in my own street, in fact in my own house. This boy had no barrier of language to overcome, yet he was a stranger in a strange land. The book is really about the problems of being a stranger. ('Noreen Shelley' in Walter McVitty Authors & Illustrators of Australian Children's Books (1989): 203).
