'Angus & Robertson's Australian Youth Plays are designed to meet the growing need for good dramatic material in the ever-increasing numbers of Australian schools in which play production is becoming a part of the curriculum.

The plays are divided into two series, Junior and Senior, to suit pupils below and above the approximate age of twelve. Bright young actors might like to try some of the Senior plays. Plays of equal merit will, on submission, be carefully considered by the publishers with a view to publication as titles in the series.

All these plays have been performed, and lend themselves to practical stage work. They have been selected with the help of a Committee of the Department of Education, N.S.W., whose recommendation they bear.' Back cover of Jill Meillon's The Jewel Casket (1948).
