AbstractHistoryArchive Description

Charles Leigh was born in Australia but, following his parents' deaths within a week of each other, he returned to England at age twelve to be educated. At twenty-four, Leigh has acquired a gambling habit and is advised by an older and wiser friend to return to the colony to make something of his life.
