Sleeplessness delves into the history of a Hungarian woman, Lenke Palffy (the grandmother of the writer), who migrated to Australia in 1951 and died in a nursing home in 1986 with the assumed identity of a German male. The drama spans time and place, from Budapest in the 1920s to Sydney in 2003.
