Keenan examines the recent spate (and success) of confessional literature. Although the books vary in some significant ways, they 'are all sexual and usually emotional confessions, mostly by older women, most of whom have been or are still married.' Keenan sights such works as Nikki Gemmell's The Bride Stripped Bare and Mary Moody's Last Tango in Toulouse to support her thesis.
