'Sim is crippled by a flagpole when he tries to raise a flag to his missing mother. Sim's nurse tells him about Santa Claus, and Sim is taken into the arms of Father Time and told the stories of the Christmas tree, the mistletoe, and how kangaroos and swans help Santa in Australia. The story ends with Sim's mother returning, and a reconciliation between Sim and his father' (Oxford Companion to Australian Children's Literature 148).
