The one-day conference, titled 'Inside Story: Writing, Manuscripts and Creative Writing Process', held at the National Library of Australia on the 25th June, 2005, has been sponsored by a donation made to the library by an American woman, Eva Kollsman. Kollsman was a close friend of Ray Mathew while lived in New York. The aim of the donation was to encourage public events that look at writers and manuscripts.
