Notes

  • 'In 2004, Melbourne playwright John Harding and Megan Evans of ANTaR (Australians for Native Title and Reconciliation), collaborated on a project called Sit Down At My Table that aimed to further understanding and respect between Indigenous and non-Indigenous communities through the tradition of eating together. ANTaR groups hosted dinners in their homes inviting Indigenous people to eat with them as their guests. Eight dinner parties were held in urban and regional Victoria and involved nearly 100 people. Second Helping is the second stage of the Sit Down at my Table project. Much of Harding's inspiration for this work arose from the videoed post-dinner conversations about Black/White relations; ideas and incidents, yarns and hopes from Australians committed to peace.' (The Program website, an initiative of the Australia Council's Audience & Market Development Division)
