Publisher's note: 'John Lewis sent a manuscript to Fitzrot magazine in 1974 or '75(?). But the manuscript got lost in the files & was not discovered until years later - after Fitzrot had folded - by David Harris, Terry Bennett & myself. All attempts to locate him failed, as he didn't leave any forwarding addresses. So the three of us decided to print the manuscript in his absence, considering his obvious desire to be published. Overnight we formed Clandestine Press, gave the manuscript a title, Short-Term Memories, typed up the poems, arranged the sequence & gave it to a printer. After about two months, John Lewis saw the book & contacted us. We gave him a large quantity of his books ...' Peter Oustabasidis.
