Writing in his capacity as the Executive Director of The Australian Society of Authors (ASA), Fisher expresses his concern at the 2005 Anti-Terrorism Bill passed by the Australian Parliament. Fisher says the ASA regards the sedition laws as 'unnecessary as current law already prohibits inciting crimes, membership and funding of terrorist organisations, and racial vilification.'
